After I got all settled in on campus, i began to get excited but nervous and scared for my classes. I wasn't sure how they were going to be. I had absoloutley NO idea what to expect. Were they going to be hard? Easy? How much homework was I going to have? Not knowing anybody in any of my classes made it even more nerve racking, so by the time Monday morning came, I was ready to get the day over with. I told myself to start the day off with a growth mindset, leaving room for anything that came my way. I didn’t want to be closed minded, because that doesn’t get a person anywhere in life. An example of myself having a fixed mindset was during and after my math class. I am so bad at math; it has always been a challenge for me. After my first day in math I was really freaking out and worrying because we jumped right into a packet and a quiz. I doubted my ability to pass the class right off the bat. An example of my growth mindset was after I found somebody to help me with that math homework. A friend down the hall has really made the class easier for me. His positive attitude really rubs off onto me and gives me lots of confidence. My struggles also encouraged me to sign up for the tutoring program in the library (ASAP), which should also help me. I would say my mindset for the entire week overall was growth. I am trying to stay positive and confident in myself, because I know I can pass my classes, it just might take a little bit of extra work on my part. My mindset for the next few weeks is also going to be growth because I know there is room for improvement in my areas of weakness.
